I don’t even know how to start this post, but being a Journalism graduate and daughter of a cop, I felt the need to say something, to express my outrage, to condemn these terrorist acts – here in my tiny corner of the internet.
I’ve spent the last ten minutes trying to piece together something which adequately sums up how I feel about this, and I really, really can’t. It’s abhorrent. It’s horrific.
12 people dead. Four of them cartoonists including an editor. Two of them police officers. Killed brutally, bloodily. On the streets. In broad daylight. 12 people dead over a cartoon image.
I don’t even want to get into the whole religion, freedom of speech, racism, censorship, or political discussions; these points shouldn’t divert away from the one simple fact: this is cold-blooded murder.
My heart aches for Paris and the French nation. The same aching I felt over the massacre of 58 people, 34 of them were journalists, in Ampatuan, Maguindanao, Philippines. These are unjustifiable acts. Let them not have died in vain.
